There are many dive sites at the Phi Phi Islands, so difficulty, visibility and marine life will vary depending on which site you are at, the type of dive you are doing, depth etc. Diving conditions at Shark Point & Koh Doc Mai are more changeable.

There are national park fees to be paid in cash on the boat, these are extra and not included in the above prices: Per person, diving is 600 baht, snorkeling is 400 baht.

Conditions vary but always lots to see!

Koh Bida Nok at Phi Phi provides big fish schools and usually blacktip sharks, Koh Bida Nai is a similar seascape dive. Dive sites at Koh Phi Phi Ley can also have sharks, turtles and good macro critters, with ,mixtures of hard & soft corals.

Dive times are planned as 50 mins
maximum, with a surface intervals
of 1 hour minimum between dives.

Dives are usually ‘pick up dives’, with the boats dropping off divers closer to shallow areas of the dive sites and then picking up dive groups away from the shallow areas after the dives.

DIve sites are decided between the boat captain and dive tour leader and may vary, depending on sea conditions, weather and season.

There’s plenty of variety at the the Phi Phi Islands, with dive sites that offer some protection from wind, waves and current, and are therefore suitable for most levels of diver. Decent buoyancy skills are required to protect & enjoy the abundant marine life and reefs in this national park.

Things to know about diving trips to the Phi Phi Islands

When diving Phi Phi from Phuket, the day trip boats visit the best dive sites for that particular day (not necessarily beginner dive sites), which means that you should at least have some diving experience. And there are some other things to be reminded of too:

  • You should allow for 18 hours before flying.
  • There are marine park fees for the Phi Phi Islands.
  • You should have some experience to dive Phi Phi.
  • You need confidence to snorkel on the Phi Phi trip.
  • You need to bring your own towels & swim wear.
  • Only use reef friendly sunscreen.
  • Touching marine life & corals is NOT allowed.
  • Do not feed the fish or throw anything in the water.

Diving Phi Phi From Phuket

Diving at the Phi Phi Islands is moderately easy, so even if you don’t yet have a license, you may be able to join if you already have some diving experience. Snorkelers / non-divers can also join.

* An extra charge of 500 baht per day for scuba gear may be required, depending on your dive package / needs, and there are extra park fees to be paid for diving and snorkeling.
